The Letter
The Letter is a quiet, nostalgic short film about grief, remembrance, and the words we never stop writing to those we’ve lost.
A young woman walks alone through a forest, wrapped in a soft, melancholic atmosphere. Her journey leads her to a bench, where she begins to read a letter — a letter she wrote herself, addressed to her late father. Through her words, she expresses what can no longer be said aloud: how deeply she misses him, how his absence still shapes her everyday life.
As she continues her walk, the letter becomes a voiceover, guiding the film emotionally while her path leads her to a solitary tree deep in the woods. At its base, she carefully places a stone beside many others already resting there. In this quiet moment, the story fully reveals itself: this tree is a place of remembrance. Year after year, she returns to honor her father’s memory, preserving their bond through a simple, repeated ritual.
Rather than relying on dialogue or exposition, The Letter tells its story through atmosphere, symbolism, and restrained cinematic language. The letter’s narration intertwines past and present, turning grief into an intimate act of remembrance — one that lives on through words, memory, and the silent presence of nature.
